Robert Menegus
It was nothing but another flame
Huddled by my windowpane
For if it were a real fire
It would have grown
When the winds had blown
It wouldn't have gone away
But as time went by
The flame had died
And only memories remain
A moment that's been caught in time
Shows an image of the spark
1000 words are enough to start
But of those words a few i find
Which bring us from the dark
The stage is set for us to part
I have perfect vision
Only after the fact
Cuz i was blinded before
Now im stuck looking back
I take a deep breath
As it falls into view
A miracle is shown
And i percieve the truth
This poem was written after a turning point in his life as he reflects back on the situation he was in before and discovers that hindsight really is 20/20. It touches on how many things seem important while they are happening, but that it's helpfull to take a step back and let them fall into perspective. It's a short poem clocking in at 23 lines, but touches on some big issues, he'll let the poem explain the rest.
