Welcome to SBP.com v.4.0.
We're back. Please take a moment to take a look around the new website. Unfortunately, we're still in the process of debugging and moving a lot of the content over from the last version, so some sections will be pretty empty for the time being. The film section in particular is pretty gutted at the moment, but that should get filled out substantially in the coming weeks. We're working on a handful of short films, including one entitled Realpolitik, which we're planning to shoot within the next month.
In the meantime, he are some newish things to check out:
The Graveyard is back, with new old music, including a ten-year-old basement jam tape of Growth of Alliance, mostly songs they never released. Everything that was there before will eventually be available again, once we finish reformatting everything. This will be our highest priority, since that was probably the most popular thing on the old site.
New live videos and album review for Happy Body Slow Brain, featuring former members of Facing New York and Taking Back Sunday.
Our friend Mike Albarelli is now accepting session drumming gigs. He's available for recording or live work. Mike's an excellent, versitile musician and all-around awesome dude. Give him your money. Here's a sample of his work. He has a head in real life.
SBP founder DMS is working on his first feature film, entitled Dog Tooth Blues, set to be released in the spring or summer of next year. Here's a quick teaser trailer.
We've done away with the forum, as it mostly became a cesspool of porn and dead bird pictures. To offset that loss, we've made it so you can post comments directly on any article on the site, provided you register, which we encourage. For more free-form discussion, we encourage you to check us out on Facebook. For porn and dead bird pictures, we direct you to the rest of the Internet.
As always, we're accepting new contributors. Click "contribute" under the about link above for more information.
If you have any issues with the site, please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Enjoy, and stay tuned.
Just came across these, they'd been sitting in a CD in the basement since 2002. They are of a band that was called Philence. They were really good. Most of their members can now be found playing with Brooks Was Here.
More stuff is making its way into The Graveyard. Sorry for the delay to those who have asked. Re-ripping lots of stuff and rebuilding the links for the new site. Archives for Fingertight and Philence are now complete. Or complete to the extent that we have their stuff. As always, we welcome submissions, especially if you have more music from a band we already have listed.
Shot three shows during a brief excursion to the East Cost last week. More videos forthcoming.
East of the Wall - Naif/Linear Failure
So is the Tongue - After the Peel
East of the Wall - Century of Excellence
Also, as you can see, the site has undergone some further refinements. You can now share stuff easily on the social network of your choice using the convenient buttons located at the end of every article. Making this work is a little more complicated than you might think. Especially if you're a hack with no real Web-design knowledge.
We're happy to announce we've begun several projects with our friends at Orange Sky Studio in Hayward, Calif. We will be collaborating with the engineers at Orange Sky to offer studio videography services to recording artists who would like promotional videos for their website or other use. More details TBA.
We'll also be working closely with the OSS staff to produce some promotional videos for the studio, as they work to expand their excellent business into the local music community.
But I think we're getting closer.
Still dealing with the user security issues, so stay tuned for an announcement on that. in the near future. We may end up going for a third-party commenting system like Disqus or some kind of newfangled Facebook integration. Should have that sorted out in a few weeks.
In other news, here's a video of Facing New York that I recently salvaged from a dying hard drive. They played this new jam opening for one of the last RX Bandits shows last summer. Word is FNY is working on some new material, but they've been pretty quiet about it, showing little public activity aside from a few cryptic Tweets.
Here's another East of the Wall video from one of the shows we shot last fall, also saved from said hard drive. It's probably the closest thing to a single from their new album The Apologist, which is excellent. We'll eventually get around to writing a review of that.
I'll be doing another run through the Pacific Northwest in the coming weeks. Probably going to blog about it or something.
